On Wednesday in the company headquarters at Hennefer Theodor-Heuss-Allee, the CONET management and jury together with district administrator Sebastian Schuster and Hennef mayor Klaus Pipke, handed over the donation vouchers to the awarded organizations.

"Again this year our jury tried to keep in line with our motto" people work for and with people" in rewarding various aspects of social commitment, educational as well as therapeutical work and volunteer projects", explains CONET CEO Anke Höfer. "Choosing among the numerous submissions has not been easy for our employees. With our selection we hope to make a contribution to the sustainable success of the winning projects."

The recipients of the CONET annual donation 2019 in detail:

  • Community Elementary School Hanftal - Violence Prevention

Since 2013, the prevention project "Nonviolent Learning" has been established at the Community Elementary School of Hennef on Hanftalstraße. The children learn to treat each other respectfully and to manage their own conflicts without physical or psychological violence. While the first classes are introduced to the project each year, the rest of the classes receive an annual refresher on the content. With the donation of 3,600 euros, the project is secured for all four classes for another year.

  • Social Aid St. Martin e. V. - Therapeutic Petting Zoo

The social aid association in Ruppichteroth is involved in many ways for people in need of help. The petting zoo under construction serves the therapeutic accompaniment of people who suffer from anxiety or withdraw from everyday life due to personal disasters. For feeding and housing the animals and training by an animal trainer, CONET provides 3,400 euros.

  • Cycling without age Hennef e. V. - Rickshaw Trips

Cycling without Age offers rickshaw trips to people with reduced mobility around the world free of charge and on an honorary basis. The donation of 2,000 euros supports maintenance, insurance and storage of two rickshaws for one year.

  • THW Helper Association Siegburg e. V. - Emergency Vehicle

In a break-in at the beginning of September at the THW in Siegburg, an emergency vehicle was set on fire. Since the basic equipment of the THW is provided by the federal government, but additional emergency vehicles but must be financed from own funds, CONET supports the purchase of a new minivan for the voluntary service of THW members with 1,000 euros.

  • ACT of Charity e. V. - Greenhouse Projects

ACT of Charity is committed to a dignified life and the future prospects of young people in Kenya. The goal is to avoid permanent dependencies. A focus is on the greenhouse technique, which can lead to a tenfold increase in yield compared to the open field method. With 4,000 euros CONET supports this initiative by ACT co-founder and former managing director Werner Bücher, whose company has been part of the CONET group since 2017.

  • Hennef Tafel Organization for Feeding the Needy

In an internal warehouse clearance, employees had the opportunity to save discarded inventory from disposal by “buying” it with a voluntary donation. The donation total of 300 euros now benefits Tafel Hennef of the AWO Kreisverband Bonn / Rhein-Sieg e.V.
