SCHOTT AG Commissions CONET with Remote Operation and Managed Services
CONET ensures the fail-safe and highly available 24x7 operation of virtual servers on site in the customer's data centers
Hennef, January 22, 2020. Successful medium-sized companies have been outsourcing parts of their IT for quite some time. Not always primarily for cost reasons - rather to free their own specialists for strategic tasks. In doing so, they place high demands on their service providers in terms of reliability and stability. SCHOTT AG relies on CONET for the remote operation of central virtual systems (VM), operating systems and databases.
As part of its own sourcing strategy, the company decided to commission CONET Services GmbH with the operation of extensive parts of its IT infrastructure. After CONET had convinced with its capabilities in the areas of hardware, VMware and operating system services, SCHOTT also transferred further areas such as the backup/restore mechanisms as well as databases such as Microsoft SQL and Oracle to the operational responsibility of the Frankfurt-based managed service specialists. The service provider ensures the fail-safe and highly available operation of the corresponding infrastructure areas on behalf of the customer in the data centers of SCHOTT AG.
"We didn't make the selection process easy for us - but in the end we have been rwarded with a reliable partner who specializes in taking on operational tasks and responsibility as a managed service provider," explains Kervin Ost, Head of Competence Center Infrastructure at SCHOTT AG. "Relieved of such standard tasks, we can focus on strategic topics such as digital transformation and Industry 4.0 and also bring the expertise of our IT experts to profitable use in innovative projects."
