Trainee Event at CONET Attracts 80 Visitors to the Company Headquarters in Hennef

Young people from all over the Rhine-Sieg district learned about training opportunities and dual courses of study on the weekend

Hennef, September 10, 2009. Last Saturday students from throughout the region were invited by CONET to visit the headquarters of the IT systems and consulting company. The special target group: young people who are considering becoming IT specialists or business management assistants for office communications, or who are thinking about pursuing a dual course of studies. Around 80 interested people visited this trainee event in order to get an idea, under the motto “your Future 2010,” of the vocational training offered by CONET and the day-to-day work there.

Company founder and CEO Rüdiger Zeyen explained CONET's corporate governance code to visitors, and discussed the prerequisites for and the special opportunities offered in vocational training at a medium-sized IT company such as CONET. "For us it is especially important that, in addition to academic qualifications, whereby we presume good grades in Math and German, future trainees fit into the team," he says. On the basis of this and through comprehensive training, CONET continuously achieves education and training qualifications that are among the best for the district Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

"The training of young people is a part of social responsibility for a regionally-rooted company like CONET," adds training manager and events organizer Nicole Goebel. At the same time, training at our own company and subsequent hiring for full-time positions is a central element for us in the search for suitable young skilled personnel."

In numerous conversations and with detailed questions ranging from apprenticeship requirements to training pay, the visitors showed a lot of interest in the information on offer. "The opportunity to learn up close and personal about one's possible future workplace meets the needs of today's young people," summarizes Goebel.

In Hennef, CONET offers apprenticeships as IT Specialist for Application Development, IT Specialist for Systems Integration and Business Management Assistant for Office Communications, as well as a dual course of studies in IT together with the University of Applied Sciences in Bergisch Gladbach (FHDW). The selection process for the next training program in the summer of 2010 has already begun.
